Nassau County asking for public input on ‘Community Building Blocks’

The Nassau County Vision 2050 process carries on as the county is asking for the public to weigh in yet again. What the Vision 2050 team is referring to as draft “Community Building Blocks” have been established through the gathering of public opinion for Vision 2050.

FDOT meeting disappoints attendees looking to save tree and hex pavers

People who want to save both centuries-old trees and hexagonal pavers particular to Fernandina Beach’s historic downtown said they were disappointed in the information provided to them from the Florida Department of Transportation during a meeting in the city.

Chamber employees give insight into statewide conference, chamber initiatives

Earlier this month, employees of the Nassau County Chamber of Commerce attended a conference they said will help them implement new ideas and practices within the community.

Attorney opinion says plant would be illegal; public organizing opposition

On the heels of an opinion released last week that a bioethanol plant cannot be legally built within the city of Fernandina Beach, the public is invited to a meeting held by No Ethanol Fernandina intended to give the public and elected officials an opportunity to discuss the proposed plant.

Textbook hearing leaves issues unresolved

The Nassau County School District’s inaugural public hearing on a textbook objection took place May 20, ending without a resolution.

BOA denies request to restore Tringali lots

The Fernandina Beach Board of Adjustment has denied a request for a variance from the city’s Land Development Code that would have allowed development on some lots commonly known as the Tringali property.

Electrician thanks emergency medical workers for saving his life

Two recognitions at the county commissioners meeting that seemed to be unrelated ended up colliding last week when an awarded county worker spoke of the actions of county emergency medical workers who saved his life and changed it forever.

Townhome development gets final approval

Townhomes will be built on a site off Sadler Road instead of a luxury RV park, after the Fernandina Beach City Commission approved the final plat of the property at its May 7 meeting.
