Barrera earns school’s first black belt

Fernandina Dojo, which opened its doors in 2019, has its first black belt. Santiago Barrera, an 18-year-old student at Yulee High School, has trained in every martial art offered at the school and is part of the competition team. He has traveled across the U.S.

Girls flag football makes its FHSAA debut

Yulee High School freshman short stop and pitcher Tripp Hannah committed to play baseball at Oklahoma State University on Feb. 3. Hannah is the 190th ranked player in the country and 29th ranked player in the state of Florida in the 2026 class by Perfect Game.

5 Hornet grapplers state bound

“We had a pretty good weekend overall,” said Yulee High School wrestling coach Brandon Crowder. The Hornet grapplers finished fourth as a team in the region tournament, and five wrestlers qualified for the state finals this weekend.

The Hornets keep writing history, beating Bishop Kenny Wednesday night in their latest chapter. The Yulee High School boys soccer team (18-2-1) beat host Kenny 2-1 in the Region 1-4A championship. Yulee scored 16 minutes into Wednesday’s match. The Crusaders answered with 26 minutes to play.

The Hornets captured their first playoff victory in school history Wednesday. The Yulee High School boys soccer team (16-2-1) edged West Florida 2-0 in a region quarterfinal match and advanced to Saturday’s semifinal round, where they face top-seed Wakulla. The match starts at 7 p.m.
