The Amelia Island Sailing Club held its fourth race of the 2023 season on Saturday, April 22, with six boats on the line at the mouth of the Amelia River for the 10 a.m. start of the 10.1-nautical mile race.

District tournaments kick off Monday

The Pirates (20-3) made it 18 in a row Wednesday, when they blanked host Stanton 9-0. The Fernandina Beach High School extended its record-breaking win streak to 18 as the Pirates head into the district tournament next week. The Pirates recored their fifth straight shutout in 32 scoreless innings.

Pirates extend winning streak to 17

It’s been a while since the Pirates lost. March 3, to be exact. The Fernandina Beach High School baseball team shattered the previous school record of 15 straight wins last week, beating Ponte Vedra and Keystone Heights to extend its winning streak to 17.

This community is a generous one, and that fact didn’t go unnoticed by Lee Murray. “When I looked around, I saw Friends of (Fernandina) Skatepark, Friends of Bosque Bello, Friends of the (Fernandina Beach) Library, Friends of the Airport, Friends of American Beach, and I’m going, ‘Wow,’” he said.

Florida-Florida State The Sunshine Showdown baseball game will now be played May 2 at 121 Financial Ballpark. Time will be announced at a later date. Any tickets purchased for the March 28 game will be honored for the May 2 game.

A thrilling racing weekend returns to Keystone Heights April 21-23. The 2023 MotoSurf Games is a racing series for America’s best motorized surfboard racers. Divisions include juniors, women, men (hobby and pro), an electric challenge and skateboard race and a jetsurf tube fun race.
