Wildlight’s Run Wild 5K and Fun Run welcomed more than 500 runners on March 11 for the inaugural race, hosted by 1st Place Sports. The scenic route led participants, ages 2-83, through the neighborhoods of the Wildlight community, showcasing trails and surrounded by nature.

Regional mixed doubles event held

Amelia Island Boules Club hosted the Federation Pétanque USA SoutheastRegional Mixed Doubles Tournament on March 12. Theevent was well attended, with 64 players making up 32 teams.

Pirates 3-0 in 39th Diamond Classic

The Pirates went 3-0 during the 39th annual Diamond Classic last week, pushing their record to 11-3. The host Fernandina Beach High School baseball team opened with a win over First Coast on Thursday. The Pirates edged the Buccaneers 7-6. Gage Dickerson and Caden Hartman had two hits apiece.

Jye Thompson reached a milestone during his high school basketball career this winter. The Yulee High School senior reached the 1,000 career point mark, and he did it in three seasons. “I had been keeping track,” he said. “The whole goal of this year was to reach 1,000 points.

The Fernandina Beach High School baseball team is hosting the 39th annual Diamond Classic this week, with games scheduled today and Saturday. The action kicked off Thursday, when the host FBHS Pirates (7-3) faced First Coast at The Ballpark at Fernandina Beach on Hickory Street.
