Welcome home: Rehabilitated sea turtles return to Atlantic

Wednesday morning, three rehabilitated sea turtles returned home to the ocean with the help of animal rescuers and turtle advocates in Georgia and Florida.  The turtles, rehabilitated by the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island, Ga., were released at the 10 a.m.

Beach nourishment project funding increases to $7.85 million

The Nassau County Board of County Commissioners met for only 40 minutes Monday, a quick meeting to kick off the month of May.

NCSB holds department budget presentations and workshops

The Nassau County School Board (NCSB) has initiated the budget planning process earlier this year with public workshops and board presentations, a departure from previous years' timelines. In previous years, the superintendent would present the upcoming year's budget to the board for approval.

County gets residents involved in Vision 2050, plan moves into Phase 3

Nassau County leaders have been asking residents what they want the county to be when it grows up. Though the county has a vision plan through 2032, growth of residents and visitors has driven the need for a new vision plan. With the 2050 plan, the vision team is going more in depth.

Cannonball jellyfish invade Amelia Island

While pirates launched a cannonball on Amelia Island last weekend to celebrate the Shrimp Festival, thousands of cannonballs were washing up on the island’s beaches — cannonball jellyfish. The gelatinous creatures were seen all along the island’s shores.
