Nassau County is making changes to the sewers and drains, changes long awaited by its residents.

Nassau County ratifies purchase of land for new animal shelter

The Nassau County Board of the County Commissioners (BOCC) on Monday ratified a Real Property Purchase and Sale Agreement with Wildlight, LLC in the amount of $1,000,000 to procure a piece of land for the long-awaited Nassau County Animal Services new shelter.

CVB looks to extend bed tax to entire county

The Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau has launched a campaign that could generate $500,000 in additional Tourism Development Tax (TDT) dollars to be used in the western part of the county. TDT is a 5% user fee tourists pay when they stay overnight on Amelia Island.

BOCC hears updates on Capital Improvement Plan

The Nassau County Board of County Commissioners met for its first meeting of June on Monday. The meeting kicked off with an update on the current standing of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The quarterly CIP presentation was given by Robert Companion, P.E.

Nassau County asking for public input on ‘Community Building Blocks’

The Nassau County Vision 2050 process carries on as the county is asking for the public to weigh in yet again. What the Vision 2050 team is referring to as draft “Community Building Blocks” have been established through the gathering of public opinion for Vision 2050.

Chamber employees give insight into statewide conference, chamber initiatives

Textbook hearing leaves issues unresolved

The Nassau County School District’s inaugural public hearing on a textbook objection took place May 20, ending without a resolution.

Electrician thanks emergency medical workers for saving his life

Two recognitions at the county commissioners meeting that seemed to be unrelated ended up colliding last week when an awarded county worker spoke of the actions of county emergency medical workers who saved his life and changed it forever.

Commissioners adjust meeting times, recognize staff

Commissioners met for the second time this week on Wednesday, honoring emergency medical workers and several county workers and departments to set the tone for the meeting.
