The road between the bridge and County Road 107, also known as Old Nassauville Road, has come to the end of its service life, according to FDOT spokesperson Hampton Ray. He said FDOT is working to keep the road free of debris.

Motorists coming onto and driving off Amelia Island via the Shave Bridge drive over a highway that is crumbling beneath their tires, but the Florida Department of Transportation says the road will not be repaired until 2025.

A 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO was crowned Best in Show, Concours de Sport while a 1947 Delahaye 135MS Narval Cariolet took home Best in Show, Concours d’Elegance at the 29th annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s St. Johns River Ferry resumed service Feb. 27. Ferry service was suspended for three weeks for infrastructure improvements and scheduled maintenance.

“Calculator” was the word that won it at the Feb. 21 annual Nassau County Schools Spelling Bee. The win will send 14-year-old Hilliard Middle-Senior High School student Cathy Le to the 80th annual regional Florida Times-Union Spelling Bee.
