Tourist user fees for west side proposed

Much of the discussion at Monday evening’s meeting of the Board of County Commissioners focused on a non-agenda item added by the county manager - an update on efforts to expand tourism on the west side of the county.

You may have noticed these new “Laced and Lethal” banners posted outside our local schools throughout Nassau County. That’s because the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office and Nassau County School District are joining forces to take aim at the deadly fentanyl crisis impacting the community.

Department of Environmental Protection says it will issue bioethanol permit

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) has told Rayonier Performance Fibers (RYAM) that it intends to issue an air quality permit which would allow the construction of a bioethanol production facility inside the company’s Fernandina Beach plant.

Man charged with attempted murder in gas bill dispute

A Yulee man has been charged with the attempted murder of his partner following a dispute over a utility bill. The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office received a call on March 8 from the suspect, Dennis Wayne McCabe, 76, of Pamela Road in Yulee.
