As stewards of Florida’s oldest newspaper, we take our role in the community seriously. We are the local newspaper of record, the go-to source for local information and the recorders of local history. Accuracy is extremely important to us, in spite of all the misinformation found on other information platforms. We are the trusted source of community news. Our role is vital for a healthy civic democracy, being the watchdog of local government and safeguarding the public good. As our community grows, we will never lose sight of our local roots. We exist to serve the community.
Since 1995 we have grown from a one-section, one-color weekly newspaper to multiple sections published twice weekly. We have added full-color, updated design formats, increased local news reporting, expanded the number of specialty publications and added digital and social platforms.
Now, it’s time for the next step. We have listened to our readers. You want and deserve the finest local news source possible in print, digital and social platforms. After 30 years, the News-Leader is moving the printing of the newspaper to a local press plant in Nassau County improving the overall quality and reproduction of our newspaper. In the coming months we will be expanding our puzzle page, adding a “Just for Children” page, incorporating recipes, healthy living tips and continuing local history features.
Thank you for reading the News-Leader and supporting local journalism. Local matters.
