The Nassau County Supervisor of Elections Janet Adkins shares important election reminders with voters on August 20, 2024, Primary Election day. Mail ballots must be signed by the voter and received by the Elections Office by 7 pm Election Day to be counted.

Nassau County has extended its State of Emergency to allow for further post-storm efforts following the visit from Tropical Storm Debby. Debby was at her worst when she first slammed into Florida’s Gulf Coast over a week ago as a Category 1 Hurricane.

County budget to be finalized in September

For the Fiscal Year 2024-25, the county expects to have a structurally balanced budget, reduced millage rate and most of the funding going to the sheriff, fire and roads.

Beads to big bucks: Front Porch Beads donates $70K to local charities

Front Porch Beads is a group of volunteers who meet regularly to create handcrafted jewelry for sale to benefit local charities. Since its inception in 2018, the group has donated $70,000 to local nonprofit organizations and is still going strong under the leadership of founder Frances Peters.

Hurricane Debbie was more like Little Debbie for locals. It has left Nassau County very wet, but mostly safe.

DeSantis urges Floridians to stay safe during Hurricane Debby

Before 8 a.m. this morning, speaking from the state’s Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee, Governor Ron DeSantis addressed the state as Hurricane Debby, a Category 1 storm with "maximum sustained winds for Debby have reached 80 miles an hour with higher gusts," makes landfall.

Recently, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, which began on Monday, July 29, and runs for two weeks, ending on Sunday, Aug. 11. The sales tax holiday will help families to save money on items their students need for the new school year.

Growth continues in new community development

Wildlight is growing and growing and growing.  As new residents flow into the county, the new community continues to raise more residential areas and welcome more businesses. In mid July, Wildlight announced yet another neighborhood to go up soon.
