A 76-year-old pedestrian was killed by a vehicle that fled Wednesday morning, a Florida Highway Patrol report said.FHP said the pedestrian death occurred in the 87000 block of Roses Bluff Road in Yulee just south of the St. Marys River and the state line around 10 a.m.

FBPD: Beach fire ‘suspicious’

A fire that destroyed an apartment behind Hammerhead beach bar on Saturday is under investigation, the Fernandina Beach Police Department said.FBPD Chief Jeff Tambasco said the fire, which occurred around 4:18 p.m., is an ongoing investigation.

Nassau honors lives lost, first responders on 9/11

Twenty-five years after the Sept. 11 attacks, Nassau County first responders gathered Friday to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel and civilians who ran toward danger to help others.
