Free Biscuits helps with unexpected veterinary costs

While a person can surrender a pet for a variety of reasons, nothing is more heartbreaking than a high veterinary costs influencing what happens to an animal, a Fernandina Beach nonprofit says.

Opioid settlement allocations approved

At the Monday Board of County Commissioners meeting, commissioners approved the allocations of $430,627 of regional opioid settlement funds to Starting Point, Coalition for Community Health and Inspire to Rise. This is the fifth year the state has received these funds.

Nassau County 2026 primary election underway

Early voting began Thursday for the 2026 Primary Election in Nassau County. Early voting is available daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 15, including weekends, at five locations across the county.

As a record number of sea turtle nests hatch along the coastline of Amelia Island, locals continue to work alongside them in an effort to help things go as smoothly as possible.Nassau County also is stepping up its sea turtle conservation efforts this nesting season.
