More than 150 people filled the Atlantic Recreation Center On Saturday to hear 19 performers showcase their musical prowess at Nassau’s Got Talent, which Nassau County Council on Aging hosted.   Brian Ernst’s looping song “Be Brave” took the top honor.

McKinney-Vento program offers homeless students level playing field

Students experiencing homelessness or economic hardships can find solace in a large space off U.S. 17 in Yulee that is packed with clothes, shoes and hygienic products. The federal McKinney-Vento Act establishes that homeless students have a right to clothing, food service and school supplies.

Hilliard shooter pronounced dead

Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper spoke in a somber tone Friday morning as he told the details of a scene at a West 12th Avenue home in Hilliard.  The domestic shooting incident on the evening of July 24 left three dead, the shooter in critical condition and one survivor – a 5-year-old girl.

County commissioner accused of DUI

A Nassau County Commissioner was arrested and charged with driving under the influence Tuesday after the Fernandina Beach Police Department said it received a tip about someone driving erratically on South Eighth Street.
