Property owners who wanted to develop an RV park on Sadler Road are asking the city of Fernandina Beach to annex the property and provide water and sewer services in order to build townhomes at the site. The matter is set to come before the city’s Technical Review Committee Sept.

Fernandina Beach approves rollback rate and budget

The Fernandina Beach City Commission approved a millage rate and budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year, but there will be another special meeting before final approval, where commissioners can make changes to either of those items. The tentative millage rate is 4.8298 mills, lower than the rate of 5.

NCSB explains unexpected tax bill increase

The recent Nassau County School Board budget workshop and regular board meeting was taken off track as community members expressed concerns over what the unexpected millage rate increase did to recent tax bills.

Tourism Development Council third-quarter update

Gil Langley, president and CEO of the Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, provided an update on the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council (TDC) to the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners. Langley gave the update at the Aug. 28  BOCC meeting.

Neighborhood concerned about OHPA selling property

The Ocean Highway and Port Authority has three parcels of undeveloped property near the Port of Fernandina that it is considering selling, but residents who live near the land are concerned the sale of the land will lead to use of the parcels that is not in character with the neighborhood.
