City fails to raise capacity fees

New customers hooking up to Fernandina Beach water and sewer service will not pay any higher capacity fees, after the city commission voted to keep the fees the same, despite advice from a consultant.

Fatal accident leads to mass delays

A fatal crash on I-95 in Nassau County Monday around 11 a.m. closed the northbound lanes of the interstate, rerouting all traffic and causing mass delays. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the death of a 91-year-old man from Jacksonville.

Customs draws a line in the sand with OHPA

The Port of Fernandina could lose its designation as a port of entry from other countries if the Ocean Highway and Port Authority does not provide a facility that meets the requirements for U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

Lessons from the life of an artist

The Nassau County community lost a world-renowned artist last week. William Robert Maurer Jr. passed away at the age of 85 after a life full of art and love. Maurer’s watercolors hang on walls from Morocco to New York to Paris to Nassau County.

Environmentalists sue for gopher tortoise ESA protections
