Local personal chef and caterer Xylina Green is in the top five of her group in Carla Hall’s Favorite Chef contest. She is relying on our community to vote for her to win $25,000, money that she plans to bring back to the Amelia Island commercial cooking community.

Woman dies after crash with log truck, FHP says

Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the death of a 25-year-old woman from Fernandina Beach following a crash on SR 200 just before 1 a.m. today. FHP said her car was not following a log truck at a safe distance, and when she hit the back of it, the logs rolled off the truck and onto her car.

While the rest of the St. Johns River Water Management District rain levels were above average last month, district staff have reported Nassau County as having the lowest amount of rainfall in the past 12 months.

A young woman has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and possession of a controlled substance following the death of her 9-month-old baby.
