Planning board questions LDC amendments

Fernandina Beach Planning Advisory Board members say they want more information before they take any action regarding amendments to the city’s Land Development Code. Changes to the LDC have been a point of discussion for months.

Living legacy: Berkman Pavilion and Memorial Garden

The Nassau County Council on Aging recently celebrated the grand opening of the new Berkman Pavilion and Memorial Garden.  The idea for the Berkman Pavilion and Memorial Garden first came to Nassau County Council on Aging President and CEO Janice Ancrum in 2016.
The Citizens’ Task Force for Safe Walking and Biking spoke to the Fernandina Beach City Commission about projects on Amelia Island that are planned, underway or completed. The Schools to Downtown Waterfront Trail is in early planning stages, and city staff will work to issue a Request for Proposals for companies to construct the project. The Task Force hopes design of the trail can be funded with impact fees, while grants could pay for construction. Submitted

“Calculator” was the word that won it at the Feb. 21 annual Nassau County Schools Spelling Bee. The win will send 14-year-old Hilliard Middle-Senior High School student Cathy Le to the 80th annual regional Florida Times-Union Spelling Bee.
