On Saturday, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office responded to a theft at Hagan Ace Hardware store on Miner Road, where four suspects stole 24 Stanley cups, concealing them in their shirts and bags before fleeing in a silver Chevy Malibu, said a release from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
An off-duty lieutenant, alerted by a BOLO (be on the lookout) over the radio, spotted the suspects’ vehicle and detained all four individuals in the Winn-Dixie parking lot on State Road 200.
The suspects had targeted multiple locations, including two Winn-Dixie stores in Yulee and Callahan and two Ace Hardware stores, with a total value of stolen merchandise estimated at around $5,000. Deputies found several Stanley cups and high-end food items from Winn-Dixie, including crab meat, lobster tail, bacon, steak and champagne in their vehicle.
“This case demonstrates the importance of vigilance and quick action. Our off-duty lieutenant’s attentiveness led to the swift apprehension of these suspects, potentially preventing further thefts. We remain committed to protecting our local businesses and community from such criminal activities,” said Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper.
Arrested and charged with felony grand theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft were 46-year-old Stacey Sullivan, 51-year-old Kaneki Hickson, 23-year-old Montavia Sullivan and 46-year-old Tracy Sullivan.
Leeper commented, “It’s clear these criminals had expensive taste, targeting luxury food items and popular merchandise across multiple stores in our county. However, I can assure you that champagne and lobster are not on the menu at Hotel Nassau County Jail.”
All four suspects have been booked into the Nassau County Jail.
