More Capital Improvement Plan projects identified

Monday’s Board of County Commissioners meeting saw County Manager Taco Pope advocate for multiple new prospects to join the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), a list of countywide infrastructure projects that provides a “fiscal forecast” for cost estimates and identifies funding sources.

Committee meets to discuss proposed land acquisitions

Assistant Planning Director Holly Coyle met with Nassau County’s land conservation committee on Wednesday to discuss several alternative rankings from the plethora of nominations it received from the community.

McCarthy resigns from North Florida Land Trust

North Florida Land Trust announced that Jim McCarthy will be stepping down as its president after eight years of service. “Finishing law school this year caused me to look at things a bit differently.

39th annual Fishing Rodeo Aug. 6

The 39th Fernandina Beach Fishing Rodeo, presented by the Nassau Sport Fishing Association, will be held Aug. 6 at the Fernandina Harbor Marina. It is sanctioned by the Southern Kingfish Association as part of its 2022 Tournament Trail national championship series.

Dishman named editor of News-Leader

Community Newspapers Inc. Regional Publisher Foy Maloy, announced recently that he has named Tracy Dishman as editor of the News-Leader. Tracy McCormick-Dishman started at the News-Leader last week. She replaces Scott Bryan who was appointed publisher and editor of the Tribune & Georgian.

City will pay for insurance to docks

The Fernandina Beach City Commission agreed to renew its insurance on the City-owned Fernandina Harbor Marina’s docks, as a request for a waiver for that insurance has not been granted.
