Nassau property values hit record high

Nassau County Property Appraiser Mike Hickox said property values in the county as of Jan. 2, 2022, have reached a record high for a total market value of $20.5 billion, a 18% increase from 2021. The taxable value has surpassed the previous year exceeding $12.6 billion, almost 14% above last year.

At the May 17 Fernandina Beach City Commission meeting, city commissioners unanimously approved an option agreement to purchase a small parcel of land adjacent to the Egans Creek Greenway in order to put the property in conservation.

Nassau County is potentially steamrolling toward a lengthy and expensive legal battle with Riverstone Properties after the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners decided Monday to stand firm with its 45-foot height limit for buildings in unincorporated Amelia Island.
Nassau County Fire Rescue Station 90 sits on State Road 2 near County Road 121 in Hilliard. The station was relocated there in 2014 after Volunteer Fire Station 9 closed. Using the same blueprint as NCFR Station 71 in Yulee, a new firehouse should be completed within the next two years.
