A program in Nassau County is bringing together adoptable pets from the Nassau County Animal Services with county employees and has already helped two animals find homes.

Pirates place eighth in the state; Campbell 22nd

Pirate golf was well-represented Tuesday and Wednesday during the 2A state championship at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills. The Fernandina Beach High School boys team qualified, and individually, Sady Campbell competed in the girls tournament.

At the Nov. 16 meeting of the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners, Maintenance Operations Supervisor Darren Marsh was recognized as employee of the quarter.

Whale ho! Volunteers train to spot right whales

Volunteers migrated to Story & Song Bookstore Bistro Tuesday and Wednesday to learn more about North Atlantic right whales and how to spot them. Julie Albert is a coordinator for the North Atlantic Right Whale Conservation Program Volunteer Sighting Network. She has been there for 23 years.

A property owner and a developer want to build townhomes on a property that is adjacent to the Historic District of Fernandina Beach, but neighbors are attempting to thwart those efforts before the application process begins.

NCSB approves construction bids

The Nassau County School Board voted to approve bids for three different projects and approved change orders for three more ongoing projects for the school district. At the Nov. 14 meeting (rescheduled from Nov. 10 because of Tropical Storm Nicole), board members approved a bid from C.C.

Last weekend, excitement and anticipation could be felt as participants from around the world lined up on the 90 pétanque courts to compete in the Amelia Island Open 2022.
