Hornets wallop Warriors; Pirates fall to Wildcats

The Hornets pushed their record to 5-4 with Friday’s 35-6 win over host West Nassau. The Yulee High School football team caps the regular season this week at Menendez in St. Augustine. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Yulee jumped out to a 28-0 first-quarter lead Friday and tacked on one more in the third.

The 4-4 Pirates travel to Baker County tonight, and the 4-4 Hornets head to Callahan to take on the West Nassau Warriors. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Yulee High School football team is coming off its 21-14 win over the Fernandina Beach Pirates Monday night.

The Lady Pirates won their quarterfinal match Tuesday and are heading to Bishop Kenny tonight to take on the Lady Crusaders in a Region 1-4A semifinal showdown.

Yulee High School hosted Fernandina Beach Monday night in a makeup matchup. The game was postponed because of Hurricane Ian. Yulee won 21-14. Both teams play on the road Friday. Photos by Beth Jones News-Leader.

After three narrow defeats, the Hornets got a win Monday night. The Yulee High School football team defeated Fernandina Beach 21-14. The two teams squeezed the makeup game between Friday night matchups. Both teams are now 4-4.

The Lady Pirates are district champs again. The Fernandina Beach High School volleyball team defeated the Lady Hornets 25-14, 25-23, 25-18 in the District 3-4A championship Thursday at Yulee, the same place the Lady Pirates captured the title last season.
