When creating her line of hand woven bags, French designer Alexandra Senes wanted each item to tell a unique story.

Restoration of historic jazz club, Evans Rendezvous, to begin soon

At the March 23 Board of County Commissioners meeting, the BOCC approved a $383,000 contract with KBT Contracting Corp for the construction of Evans Rendezvous Infrastructure Repairs. The restoration is set to begin in the coming weeks. The project has been a long time coming.

District closer to sending millage to BOCC

Nassau County School District board members further dicussed implementing the 1 mill at an agenda workshop on Monday, before Thursday’s vote that could send ballot language to Nassau County commissioners.

Nassau's Sunburst

After being crowned Little Miss Orange Park in Feb, 8-year-old Laylah Saylor Leopold will be taking on the statewide Sunburst Pageant representing Nassau County in May.

Harbor Concourse faces blaze 

Residents of Harbor Concourse in Fernandina Beach were beginning their Easter weekend festivities on Saturday when a blaze grew out of control in a wooded area along Harbor Concourse Circle. Around noon Sarah Susan pulled into her driveway and noticed smoke rising from the backyard.

NCSO: Man, woman arrested on fentanyl trafficking charges

A Jacksonville man and woman were arrested Wednesday on fentanyl trafficking charges after two controlled buys last year and a traffic stop Tuesday, a Nassau County Sheriff’s Office arrest report said.

In recognition of Teen Dating Violence Awareness, local domestic violence center Micah’s Place hosted their 5th annual teen art contest called The Power of Art: A Vision of Love and Respect - Imagining A Violence-Free World.

Kick Cancer for Emma

12-year-old Yulee Middle School student Emma Pulwers was diagnosed with stage 3B Malignant Melanoma in January. Despite her ongoing fight with the disease, Emma has remained positive through it all, according to her mother Traci McAfee. McAfee told the News-Leader about Emma’s driven personality.

BOCC updates law to allow drinking alcohol on county property during events

Nassau County has made drinking alcohol at county events legal. To benefit the many events hosted by Nassau County, as well as the highly-anticipated Westside Regional Park, the Board of County Commissioners has approved an update to its ordinance regarding alcohol consumption on county property.
