County seeks Chamber regroup on stance

At Wednesday’s Board of County Commissioners, a consensus was made for County Manager Taco Pope to draft a letter in response to the Chamber of Commerce’s recent official stance statement and column written by the organization's president.

County property values top $30B

The value of properties in Nassau County continues to rise, with a 9% increase over last year, according to the property appraiser’s office. Nassau County Property Appraiser Kevin Lilly said the total market value of county properties is more than $30 billion.

An annual global event celebrates an ideology that people from different backgrounds and foundational beliefs can share: Music is a right that all people should be able to enjoy.Make Music Day, the largest music event in the world held June 21, has made its way to Nassau County.

Annual Paddle for Veterans event this month

Outdoor-lovers have an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors to support veterans this month during the annual Cross the Line Paddle for Veterans event. The 9- to 10-mile paddle crossing the Cumberland Sound is set for June 21.

Industry jobs on the rise in Nassau 

The Nassau Prosperity Alliance reported a higher rate of targeted industry jobs in Nassau County in 2024. The group of local economic leaders released its 2024 report at the end of May.

Commissioner to state legislators: "Do better"

BOCC had a short break this month when their regularly scheduled third meeting of the month was canceled for falling on Memorial Day. That didn’t stop county leaders from moving along with business as usual. The board made several notable actions at its two meetings, May 12 and 21.

Thomas Creek Watershed residents seeing relief

Nassau County is making real progress in its plan to relieve residents dealing with flooding concerns in the Thomas Creek Watershed. The county put in an application for another grant this month, the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program for $244,729.
