14th annual Nassau County Animal Expo

The 2023 Animal EXPO is scheduled for March 18 at the Atlantic Recreation Auditorium, 2500 Atlantic Ave. in Fernandina Beach, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Many rescue and wildlife groups will be in attendance, making the 2023 event the largest expo in past years.

Library receives program funds from Friends

The Friends of the Fernandina Beach Library, FOL, held its 2023 annual meeting at the Library on Thursday, Feb. 23. FOL President Jody Mackle conducted the meeting and presented a check for $40,000 to Julie Cannavino, the interim library director, to support programs of the Fernandina Beach Library.

Nassau County proudly recognizes 4-Hers of the month

Timothy is beginning his second year in 4-H as a Cloverbud. What an amazing adventure he is on and proving the motto “Learn by Doing” works. He showed his goat, Rumor, during the pee-wee goat show, showed chickens and participated throughout the Northeast Florida Fair.

The Mighty Marching Pirates take top honors

The Fernandina Beach High School jazz band, Sailors of Swing, participated in the District Jazz MPA (Music Performance Assessment) at First Coast High School in Jacksonville and earned an overall superior rating.

Atlantic Rec Center preschool to close

Fernandina Beach Parks and Recreation Director Catherine Vorrasi said that while the current term will be the last for Amelia Preschool at the Atlantic Rec Center, the closure will allow her department to impact more children with new programs.
