You may have seen Maria Pinto around town, elegantly dressed and always wearing a beautiful hat. The hats are from her business, Mindo Hats. Born out of necessity, function and nostalgia, Pinto started her business when she couldn't find a local, high-quality hat to shade her from the Florida sun.

NOAA: Va. Beach right whale died of vessel strike

A necropsy conducted on a North Atlantic right whale found dead in Virginia Beach this week determined the animal died of blunt force trauma consistent with a vessel strike. The whale, a 20-year-old male almost 43 feet in length and weighing an estimated 70 tons, washed ashore Monday, Feb. 13.
