A tree at the corner of Eighth Street and Atlantic Avenue has roots that are growing up under the sidewalk, causing a hazard to pedestrians. But, the tree is very old, and part of what some groups say is the charm of historic downtown Fernandina Beach.

Neighborhood concerned about OHPA selling property

The Ocean Highway and Port Authority has three parcels of undeveloped property near the Port of Fernandina that it is considering selling, but residents who live near the land are concerned the sale of the land will lead to use of the parcels that is not in character with the neighborhood.

Former Dania Beach mayor took Fernandina Beach plan to redevelop waterfront

When then Dania Beach Mayor Walter Duke visited Fernandina Beach in 2009, he saw a sign at the Amelia River waterfront announcing the city’s plan for revitalization of the area. That plan inspired his work to revitalize the waterfront in his city.

NCSB appoints Tambasco to oversight committee

Fatal accident leads to mass delays

A fatal crash on I-95 in Nassau County Monday around 11 a.m. closed the northbound lanes of the interstate, rerouting all traffic and causing mass delays. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the death of a 91-year-old man from Jacksonville.
