City moving forward with beach smoking ban

City Attorney Tammi Bach said Gov. Ron DeSantis recently signed legislation that changed the exemptions to the state code that allows counties and municipalities to regulate smoking on public beaches and parks. With that change, smoking tobacco with a pipe or plastic-tipped cigars are not allowed.

Wildlight reveals plans for new Dairy Queen

Tuesday’s Development Review Committee (DRC) meeting saw the Low Country Land Trust request further meetings to discuss construction of a Dairy Queen on Wildlight property. Robert White, representative for the land owner, announced the proposed site is a 0.

Fernandina water tower getting painted

City of Fernandina Beach Utilities Director Andre Desilet said the city’s water tower is being repainted. The contractor is sand blasting the exterior to remove the old coating. Draping at the site is being installed to contain the blasting media.

NCSB accepts primary proposed millage rates

The Nassau County School District board held its first of two public workshops concerning the budget for the upcoming year and accepted proposed millage rates Tuesday. The state of Florida provides funding to school districts through the Florida Education Finance Program.

Nassau County nurse to appear on Jeopardy tonight

For the News-Leader Local Nassau County resident, Alison Trembly, DNP, APRN, family nurse practitioner, for Barnabas Center appears on the popular television game show Jeopardy! today, July 20th.    Trembly was able to put a checkmark next to a huge bucket list item, participating on Jeopardy!.
