The Yulee Bowling Center hosted a Professional Bowlers Association tournament over the weekend, but before they took to the lanes, they polished their forms Friday night playing with the amateurs, with pro-am tournaments for local children, pictured, and adults.

The Fernandina Beach Police Department celebrated the annual Shop with Cops event on Wednesday at the island Walmart, 1385 Amelia Plaza. One hundred fifty elementary school children were gifted $125 each to spend.

Members of Congress introduced the Red Snapper Act last week, a bill aimed at preventing the National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration from further closing the red snapper season. Rep. John Rutherford led the effort, with Stephanie Murphy and 14 other representatives backing the bill.
