The Nassau County School Board ratified its contract with the Nassau Teachers’ Association on Thursday, officially sealing the deal guaranteeing teachers receive their “much needed” and “historic” raises.

Freezing temperatures and warm hearts make Citrus Drive a success

Record-breaking cold temperatures in Nassau County did not stop volunteers and homeowners from providing fresh citrus to neighbors in need. More than 15 generous homeowners invited 23 volunteers to pick surplus and fallen fruit from their trees to benefit the Barnabas nutrition programs.

Spy School author visits the island

New York Times best selling author, Stuart Gibbs, recently visited with the students at St. Michael Academy. The students enjoyed learning about Stuart Gibbs, his book series Spy School, Fun Jungle, Charlie Thorne, and his life.

BOCC approves development plan despite residents pleas

Despite the pleas of residents of the Buckhead subdivision in Bryceville, 75 new homes will be built north of Ford Road between Trophy Trail and Deer Run Trail after the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners approved the final development plan for the addition.

Whigham pleads no contest to second-degree murder

Shawn Whigham pleaded no contest to the murder of Colleen Potts this week, accepting a sentence of 20 years for second-degree murder and armed burglary with assault along with 15 years for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
