International Coastal Cleanup Day saw beach cleanups all over the world, the state of Florida and Amelia Island. Volunteers gave up their Saturday morning on Sept. 17 to don their yellow vests and pick up the litter strewn along Amelia Island’s beaches and parks.

BOCC hosts first public hearing on tentative budget

Nassau County’s proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2023 has taken a steep $40 million increase since it was first proposed in July, according to newly appointed Office of Management and Budget Director Chris Lacambra and Assistant County Manager Marshall Eyerman on Sept. 12.

Keep Nassau Beautiful kicked off its biannual free tree giveaway this weekend in Yulee. Over 120 trees were distributed to be planted in Nassau County yards. The trees come in three-gallon buckets and community members were allowed to take home up to two trees.

The former president of the Callahan Sports Association was arrested for allegedly stealing more than $20,000 using a computer program used to maintain finances. The Callahan Sports Association is a nonprofit organization and a member of the North Florida Youth Football conference.
