Reconstruction begins on storm-damaged downtown boardwalk

A crane and construction crews are beginning repairs and reconstruction of the downtown Fernandina Beach boardwalk and restoration of a short gangway from a ship store to fuel dock. This task will be undertaken by Johnson’s Coastal Marine Construction and Coker Cranes.

The Fernandina Beach High School Foundation hosted another lively Trivia Night Sept. 23 benefitting the students and classes at Fernandina Beach High School. Benefactors packed into the Fernandina Beach Woman’s Club to enjoy pizza, drinks and a tricky challenge.

NCSO arrests 54 on drug-related charges

The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of 54 individuals and the seizure of hundreds of pounds of illegal drugs and 25 firearms in Operation Heavy Weights, Class of 2022. Of the drugs seized, there was a total of 380 pounds of marijuana and THC, 300 pills, 6.

County extends local state of emergency to Oct. 10

On Monday morning, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) met for a special meeting to discuss extending the local state of emergency currently placed on Nassau County in response to Hurricane Ian.
