Fernandina Beach Vice Mayor Len Kreger said an assessment of a tree in Central Park showed it could be saved by simply moving a picnic table near it. Fernandina Beach Vice Mayor Len Kreger says planting trees is not the only way to help save the city’s tree canopy, that saving trees is just as important, and finding what trees need help is the first step.
Kreger explained the city performed tree inventories in 2009 and 2017.

Nassau Human Society to home Envigo beagles

The Nassau Humane Society has taken in 10 beagles from the Envigo RMS LLC dog breeding facility in Cumberland, Va.
The ten dogs are part of the almost 3,000 dogs removed from Envigo thus far. The Humane Society of the United States is overseeing the placement of the beagles.

Alligator Creek tests positive for E. coli

The St. Marys Riverkeeper’s regular water quality testing found high levels of Escherichia coli in the water near Escambia Street and Eighth Street.
The Environmental Protection Agency says safe recreational levels are below 235 colony forming units (CFU) per milliliter.
