New York Times best selling author, Stuart Gibbs, recently visited with the students at St. Michael Academy. The students enjoyed learning about Stuart Gibbs, his book series Spy School, Fun Jungle, Charlie Thorne, and his life.

Whigham pleads no contest to second-degree murder

Shawn Whigham pleaded no contest to the murder of Colleen Potts this week, accepting a sentence of 20 years for second-degree murder and armed burglary with assault along with 15 years for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Yulee Basketball Association held opening day ceremonies and games on Saturday at Yulee Middle School. The league boasts 17 teams this season. Nassau Pride player Darius Sharpe and coach Julian Williams were on hand to show their support.

SJRWMD: Nassau experiencing “moderate” drought

North Florida is beginning to experience drought conditions after a drier than usual December, according to reports from the St. Johns River Water Management District. The District reported an average of one inch of rainfall in December across its 18-county region, a 1.
