Fernandina Beach Market Place, Arts Market return to historic downtown

The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market and the Fernandina Beach Arts Markets will return to historic downtown Saturday. Open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., these two markets offer more than 70 booths of seasonal produce, fresh baked breads, wood working, fine and whimsical jewelry and more.

Georgia passes act to protect right to fish

Georgia lawmakers have signed into law a bill protecting anglers’ right to fish in navigable waters, such as the St. Marys River bordering Nassau County. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed Senate Bill 115 into law late last Monday.

Fernandina Beach Middle School came together to celebrate its cafeteria manager Missy Adkins, who was named a 2023 School Lunch Hero by the Florida Department of Agriculture. Out of almost 500 applicants, Adkins was one of five winners chosen.

Pirates make it 19, play for district title

The Pirates made it 19 wins in a row Tuesday night when they beat visiting Wolfson 7-2 in the semifinal round of the District 3-3A tournament. The Fernandina Beach High School baseball team (21-3) advanced to the championship game Thursday, where they faced top-seed Providence.
