Reminiscing about growing up here

Several weeks ago, I was privileged to be part of a panel discussion about what it was like to grow up in Fernandina Beach. The group was made up of four alumni of Fernandina Beach High School, all from classes that graduated in the '60s and '70s, so our experiences were fairly similar.

Wildlight Market Place showcases ‘Booth with a Cause’

The Fernandina Beach Market Place and the Wildlight Market Place will both be open Saturday. Fernandina's market is located on North Seventh Street in historic downtown, and the Wildlight market is located at 123 Tinker St. in Yulee. Both markets are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Discovering automotive enthusiasm

After spending most of my life in that other sunshine state on the West Coast, we sold our little mini coupe, picked up and packed up a bit larger Mercedes GLC and headed east to Fernandina Beach. Traveling across our great nation was a wonderful adventure.

Why do I care?

Perhaps you are paying attention to the lively discussion in local media surrounding the future of the City’s waterfront. Some at City Hall would have you believe the expansive mud banks shown above and on the City’s waterfront cannot be filled over to create new land.  This is simply not true.
