BOCC denies land usage

Georgia passes act to protect right to fish

Georgia lawmakers have signed into law a bill protecting anglers’ right to fish in navigable waters, such as the St. Marys River bordering Nassau County.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed Senate Bill 115 into law late last Monday.

Fernandina Beach Middle School came together to celebrate its cafeteria manager Missy Adkins, who was named a 2023 School Lunch Hero by the Florida Department of Agriculture.
Out of almost 500 applicants, Adkins was one of five winners chosen.

The Pirates made it 19 wins in a row Tuesday night when they beat visiting Wolfson 7-2 in the semifinal round of the District 3-3A tournament.
The Fernandina Beach High School baseball team (21-3) advanced to the championship game Thursday, where they faced top-seed Providence.

The Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival returned Friday through Sunday to downtown Fernandina Beach. Pirates were in abundance, and the shrimp were plentiful. Along with the Miss Shrimp Festival pageant, artists and Thursday’s popular parade, thousands gathered for the annual festival.

NCSB, BOCC swap land

Since 2021, both boards have been in talks about the land swap.
