Fernandina Beach offers Ty Ross city manager job

Pending acceptance of an offer from the City of Fernandina Beach, Ty Ross will become the City Manager, after an extensive process that included an executive search firm, a citizens’ committee and finally a consensus of the city commission.

Deputy arrested during domestic dispute

A Nassau County Sheriff’s deputy was in the Nassau County Jail Friday after he was arrested in connection with a domestic dispute involving a firearm. According to Sheriff Bill Leeper, a deputy responded to a call to Wildlight after 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug.

Tourism Development Council third-quarter update

Gil Langley, president and CEO of the Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, provided an update on the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council (TDC) to the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners. Langley gave the update at the Aug. 28  BOCC meeting.

Two shot on Nottingham, one dead

The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is investigating a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 30, in the 1,400 block of Nottingham Drive, off of South 14th Street.  NCSO said two people were shot around 5:30 a.m.

AISTW records most ever green turtle nests on island

The Amelia Island Sea Turtle Watch, Inc. recorded the 15th green sea turtle nest this season, the most green nests ever recorded on Amelia Island in a single season. Sea Turtle Watch volunteer Micki Marvin and her parents found the nest on their morning walk along the assigned route.
