Of the approximately 12,000 people that live and work in Nassau County, 73.5% of those people work in the service industry. A local service industry average of $15 an hour yields a salary of $31,200, not nearly enough to buy a house.

NCSD buses ready for action

As parents are prepping their kids to go back to school next week, the Nassau County School District is readying its bus fleet as well. The subject of bus routes and bus drivers was added to the agenda at the July 27 meeting.

Rutherford reintroduces Red Snapper Act

Congressman John Rutherford reintroduced the Red Snapper Act, aimed at prohibiting the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration from implementing area closures for red snapper until the Great Red Snapper Count is finished and the data integrated into NOAA’s decision.

BOCC approves reduced millage rate for third year
