North Atlantic right whale conservation is about to receive a $21 million boost. Lawmakers in Washington, D.C., recently passed H.R. 2471, also known as the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022, funding projects and salaries all across government agencies.

Civil twilight – that’s when the walkers start walking. Every morning before the sun rises, volunteers from the Amelia Island Sea Turtle Watch start along their assigned sections of the beach. They walk along the most recent high tide line, looking for turtle tracks in the sand.
