Arlyse McDonald taught art at both Fernandina Beach High School and Yulee High School. She has been retired for 17 years, but her passion for teaching art has not waned. She has found the perfect place on North Second Street at the Island Art Association’s Sundays on Second program.

Two arrested for stealing vehicles, car break-ins

Early Thursday morning, Dec. 21, Nassau County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) arrested two individuals from Jacksonville, 19-year-old Tyler Jordan Fuller and 18-Year-old Aaniyah Jackson, who were spotted breaking into cars at the Lofts at Wildlight in Yulee, said a release.

14th Street property annexed into the city despite Live Local concerns

The Fernandina Beach City Commission approved, by a 4-1 vote, the annexation and Commercial zoning and Future Land Use Map designation for property between 14th and 15th Streets, despite pleas of people who live in the area and one city commissioner who voiced concerns regarding density.

Ty Ross resigns as city manager

After weeks of controversy, Ty Ross tendered his resignation to Fernandina Beach City Attorney Tammi Bach Friday, Dec. 15. Ross, whose first day in his role was Oct. 16, was riding his bicycle on Atlantic Avenue Oct. 29 when he had an accident, and passersby called 911.

Cost of garbage service going up in Fernandina Beach

The residents of Fernandina Beach will have one less chore in 2024: taking their trash cans out to the curb for a second weekly collection by Waste Management.
