Jye Thompson reached a milestone during his high school basketball career this winter. The Yulee High School senior reached the 1,000 career point mark, and he did it in three seasons.
“I had been keeping track,” he said. “The whole goal of this year was to reach 1,000 points.

The Fernandina Beach High School baseball team is hosting the 39th annual Diamond Classic this week, with games scheduled today and Saturday. The action kicked off Thursday, when the host FBHS Pirates (7-3) faced First Coast at The Ballpark at Fernandina Beach on Hickory Street.

Ten years ago, local resident and Rotary Club member David Barkhausen took up cross-country skiing somewhat seriously in his early 60s. While still living in Illinois, he began participating in several races in northern Michigan and Wisconsin.
