FHP: Bicyclist hospitalized after collision with SUV

A 75-year-old Fernandina Beach man suffered “incapacitating injuries” while riding a bicycle March 27 after a car swerved into the bike lane on South Fletcher Avenue knocked him off the bike and ran over him, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The Power of Art 

In recognition of Teen Dating Violence Awareness, local domestic violence center Micah’s Place hosted their 5th annual teen art contest called The Power of Art: A Vision of Love and Respect - Imagining A Violence-Free World.

Blooms abound as Spring begins

As Nassau County’s beautiful native plant species begin to show off, many people’s eyes, noses and respiratory systems are showing out. Today is the vernal equinox, also known as the first day of Spring.

Stars align at Fort Clinch

Hundreds of people were welcomed inside Fort Clinch after dark last week, to the delight of local lovers of the stars.The fifth annual Astronomy Night was hosted at Fort Clinch State Park, sponsored by Friends of Fort Clinch with the help of the Northeast Florida Astronomical Society.

Multitude of car events boost appeal to visitors of concours

The Amelia Concours, formerly the Concours d’Elegance, has been regarded as one of the best car shows in the country over the years.  The prestigious car show features vehicles flown in from around the world. Attendees of this year’s event faced a $180 ticket with discounts for seniors and children.

Right whales see most new calves in 15 years

Members of the Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors teamed up with the Amelia Island Museum of History on Wednesday to bring the public an informative presentation on the North Atlantic right whale calving season.
