Respect the ocean’s power

In Fernandina Beach, the next generation of surfers is being taught the art form and learning to respect “the ocean’s power,” according to a surf camp instructor.Scott Kellogg, Amelia Island Surf Co. co-owner, has run the surf camp since 2004.

Paddle for Veterans raises $10K for Building Battle Buddies

Nearly 200 people gathered at the Dee Dee Bartels Boat Ramp at 6:45 a.m. Saturday to raise awareness of veteran PTSD and suicide, and support a local nonprofit that is taking efforts to do the same. The group of paddlers loaded onto an Amelia River Cruises boat to be shuttled to the St.

Cruisin' for a cause

This weekend an annual local event that supports veterans will hold its largest event to date. The Cross the Line Paddle for Veterans is set to take place Saturday morning.  Bill Cimino, co-director of Cross the Line Foundation, said as of Wednesday 149 people were registered for the event.

‘Get stoked’ for skate & surf film festival

Celebrating ‘the art of gardening’

On Sunday, the Bartram Garden Club of Amelia Island held a local garden tour to celebrate National Garden Week. The tour featured six stops at home gardens on Amelia Island.

Gumball 3000 joins local groups to boost local skate community

The Gumball 3000 rolled through Amelia Island over the weekend, bringing a super car rally downtown and an event at Main Beach that gave a significant boost to the local skate community.
