McDowell pleads guilty to NCSO Deputy Moyers’s murder

Patrick McDowell has pleaded guilty to the murder of Nassau County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Moyers. At a deposition held Friday, March 10, McDowell and his attorneys came before the court to change his plea.

Nassau County Chamber hosts ‘Doing Business with Big Business’

The Nassau County Chamber of Commerce will host two "Doing Business with Big Business" events in the month of April. The first event, with representatives from the private sector, will take place on Tuesday, April 4, from 8:30-10 a.m.

City and school board discuss moving Ybor Alvarez complex to Hickory Street

With the possibility of losing the lease on the site of the Ybor Alvarez Sports Complex, the city of Fernandina Beach has reached out to the Nassau County School Board in hopes of working with Nassau County government to fund a new sports complex at the Hickory Street Park.

NCSO, other law enforcement announce human trafficking task force

A coalition of law enforcement agencies and nonprofit organizations have announced the INTERCEPT Task Force, a partnership aimed at combating human trafficking in Northeast Florida. Together, Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper, Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook, Jacksonville Sheriff T.K.

Highlights of 2023 ‘The Amelia’ Concours d’Elegance

The 28th annual gathering at The Amelia saw 25,000 enthusiasts gather for featured auctions, driving events and a two-day show on the grounds of The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. The big show brought shiny cars zipping around winding island streets.

Five things to remember as the weather warms up

Amelia Island is home to wildlife of all kinds. As the seasons change, so does the wildlife. The warmer weather means the North Atlantic right whales will return north and the sea turtles will return to Amelia Island to nest, along with other changes in the ecosystem.
