Lamar Miles makes sure Nassau County residents get to see snow during the holiday season. Miles owns Ugly Fish Art Company based in Fernandina Beach. During the last few months of the year, Miles travels to businesses in Nassau County and Georgia to paint holiday art on business’ windows.

BOCC set to enact ordinances Monday

The Board of County Commissioners is poised to enact a few ordinances on Monday.  Two of the ordinances come from discussions had during the Winter Strategic Planning Session earlier this year.

Westside Regional Park construction to begin early 2025

The long-awaited Westside Regional Park will begin construction early next year.  Just under 108 acres of land one mile south of Hilliard at the northwest corner of US 1 and Pratt Siding Road will be home to a park “unlike anything Nassau County has seen.

Not very long ago, I reviewed GMC’s Sierra Denali 1500 pickup, and since its MSRP was an eye-popping $87,385 with options, I assumed this was about all one could lavish on a truck — at least when powered by petrol. But the GMC premium brand offers more.

American Beach sewer-conversion project near complete

The American Beach Water and Sewer District is about wrapped up.  Amy Bell, the administrative manager for the Nassau County Manager’s Office, told the News-Leader “It is exciting to see this project coming to an end with residents being able to utilize public water and sewer utilities.
