Public Safety Training Complex: Room to Grow

Just off County Road 108, a 40-acre plot of land is home to a training complex that remains under construction but is in-use. The county is constructing the Nassau County Public Safety Training Complex project in phases.

Timber to Tides design plan will guide Nassau’s S.R. 200 growth

In the next couple of months Nassau County will consider implementing the Timber to Tides Design Overlay (T2TDO). The Planning and Zoning Board held a workshop Jan. 21 to review a presentation from Josh MacBeth, senior planner/design with the Planning Department.

County holds field day for staff

Nassau County held its Government Field Day for a second year on Saturday. On Tuesday, the county shared details and photos of the event, held for county employees and their families.

NCSO to host women’s self-defense class

Next week, local women will join the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office to learn to defend themselves. The free Women’s Self-Defense Class, to be held 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, focuses on “situational awareness and basic self-defense techniques.

A podcast hosted by a local educator shares the “endlessly fascinating and inspiring” world of plants through expert’s eyes.

Potential $400K grant will provide new data on river basins

On Monday the Board of County Commissioners approved two grant applications that have local conservationists clapping.

BOCC tests out new computer program at Monday's meeting

The Board of County Commissioners had a short meeting Monday and tested out a new computer program it will use at meetings moving forward.  County commissioners used the program to submit votes and indicate their desire to speak on agenda items.

Nassau handles icy conditions

Nassau County may get a break from the ice this weekend, but local leaders remain vigilant. Forecasts have fluctuated for upcoming days, but temperatures in some parts of the county could reach the 50s this weekend. The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures reaching the 60s midweek.

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will make its way to the Northeast Florida Fairgrounds for the first time this April. The Town of Hilliard is cohosting the free event with the VFW Post 10095 and Hanging With Heroes Monthly Market.
