City's Grocery Getter services extended
ALDI confirmed it is postponing the opening of its store on Amelia Island.
The company previously announced that the store at 947 Amelia Plaza would open tomorrow. Due to a shift in "construction timing," the location may not open this month.
“While construction timing has shifted our original grand opening plans slightly, we remain on track to open our new Fernandina Beach store in the next few months," said Matt Thon, Regional Vice President, on Wednesday. "We appreciate the excitement and interest we’re seeing locally and will reach out with additional details on timing and opening celebrations once we have more to share."
ALDI did not give details on why the construction timing has shifted.
Fernandina Beach said Wednesday it will extend its Grocery Getter Program through March.
The Grocery Getter shuttle runs every Monday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The service provides transportation to the Winn Dixie Marketplace in Yulee.
"We will continue to run the Grocery Getter shuttle through March. The new planned 'final trip' to Aldi is Thursday, April 2," said Mary Hamburg, digital communications manager for Fernandina Beach.
