Neighborhood reopened to residents; Crews still fighting fire Saturday evening
Residents in a local neighborhood were forced to evacuate for a short time today, when a brush fire broke out.
Early this afternoon, Nassau County Fire Rescue responded to a large brush fire active near Keel Court in Fernandina Beach.
The Nassau County Sheriff's Office took to Facebook to announce the community alert, advising residents avoid the area while crews work to contain the fire.
Residents were allowed to re-enter the neighborhood around 4 p.m., though crews still continued to battle the fire.

A large brush fire is currently active in the area. Homes on Keel Court are being evacuated. Fire Rescue units are on scene, and Forestry crews are en route.
Please avoid the area and follow any instructions from emergency personnel.

Keel Court is now reopened to residents. Access to Harbor Concourse is currently limited to residents only.
Fire Rescue and Forestry crews remain on scene and are actively working the fire.
