Fernandina Beach hosts second annual Fall Fest

Inside the Atlantic Recreation Center auditorium, local children played games, got temporary tattoos, won prizes and got lots of fall-themed treats. Outside in the pool, kids swam for their own fall decor — picking pumpkins they would decorate themselves.

The Second Annual Oktoberfest hosted by PJD’s Beer and Wine Garden was held over the weekend in Downtown Fernandina Beach.The event featured live music, food and craft vendors, dancing and contests, children’s activities and, of course, beer.

City, AICVB strike new deal

Fernandina Beach city commissioners approved a three-year franchise agreement with Dickens on Centre between the festival and the city, in addition to co-sponsoring 10 city events.Commissioners approved both plans by a 4-1 vote, with Commissioner Genece Minshew casting the dissenting vote on both.

Hornets sweep Pirates in volleyball Battle of the Bridge, continue winning record

On Thursday, the Fernandina Beach High School volleyball team hosted Yulee High School. The Lady Hornets came out on top of the Battle of the Bridge, sweeping the Lady Pirates in three sets.The YHS volleyball team defeated FBHS in three sets: 25-19, 25-20, and 25-12.
