“Daddy was, and always will be, our living, breathing super hero.”
John Clayton O’Neal Jr. passed away at home July 27, 2022. J.C. was born Oct. 16, 1930, in Baldwin, Fla. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Pauline O’Neal, and baby son, Ralph. He was also preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Ellen, and four brothers and a sister, Luther, Walter, Susie and Gene.
J.C. leaves behind three daughters, Debbie Watson (Jimmy), Crystal Crews (Farrell) and Peggy Holt (Vince); one son, John O’Neal III; grandchildren, Robert, Tiffany, Sean, Joshua, DeAnna, Vincent and Christopher; and seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
J.C. served in the Army during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he moved with his new wife to Fernandina Beach, where he went to work at Container Corp. until he retired.
J.C’s celebration of life was held at Blackrock Baptist Church, where he is a longtime member, Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, at 11 a.m. Friends and family gathered an hour prior to share love and memories.
Daddy left this world with a peaceful look on his face, finally being where he wanted to be — with Momma.
