Two juvenile sea turtles, Siesto and Sorrel, were released back to the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday at Main Beach. From left, Sydney Milburn and Morgan Flanagan of Jekyll Island Authority’s Georgia Sea Turtle Center released the green turtles as a crowd of hundreds of beach visitors looked on and cheered the event. Both turtles were under 5 years old and weighed about three pounds. Flanagan said the rehabilitation of the two young turtles was quick. Both were rescued cold stunned during the winter on Amelia Island. They received antibiotics, a few meals and a lengthy rest before returning home to the sea.
